Starting Friday, March 20th, two spectacular solar system events will take place.
Total Solar Eclipse
This eclipse is not visible from North America but can be seen as a partial eclipse in Europe, Africa and eastern Asia. The path of totality runs through the North Atlantic Ocean and includes Svalbard (Norway) and the Faroe Islands. For people living outside the area where the eclipse will be visible, SkySafari allows you to see it happen.
Anyone wishing to view the eclipse live should view it through special solar observing filters or by projecting the Sun's image. Don't ever stare directly at the Sun, even with sunglasses, and especially not through a telescope!

You can also see what the eclipse will look like from you location by choosing "Current Location" in the Location settings and following steps 2-7 with the time being offset by your time zone.
Total Lunar Eclipse
A total lunar eclipse will occur on April 4th, 2015. This is where the Earth's shadow falls upon the face of the Moon. Whether you can see it from your location depends solely on whether the Moon is up in the sky when it occurs.
